Nerd Herd Flashback Part 3: League Shaken by Farnsworth-Pearspn Swap

-- West Lake looks to upgrade their roster; Valley remains confident amidst changes

The excitement generated by the return of missionaries Ryan Pearspn, Spencer Hansen, and Landon Squire took a backseat Sunday as a trade between West Lake and Valley stole the show. In a move less anticipated than the sight of a non-balding Landon, West Lake shipped former PF Ryan Pearspn along with a used Game Cube and a copy of Tony Hawk's Underground to Valley in exchange for the 'Role Player of the Year' award winner Bryan Farnsworth.

Surprisingly, the word 'Trade' may not be the most accurate for it remains unclear as to whether Valley will allow Pearspin a spot on their team. Farnsworth, or 'The Admiral', as his followers prefer to call him, led all players in shooting percentage during the six games played in the first championship series. The Bountiful native drew the attention of West Lake coaches after he made his counterpart Pearspin look like a descendant of Ostertag. Pearspin buckled under the Farnsworthian defense dropping passes, catching balls with his face, and frequently dribbling out of bounds.

When notified he'd been traded the former West Lake starting power forward defended his play, stating that competition isn't so much about winning and losing. "Honor and pride are the things that matter," the former Granger P.E. Hustle award winner is recorded saying. "Giving great efforts, hustling, playing hard even when tired -- those are the things that define champions, not wins."

While Pearspin's philosophy might make for a good book, West Lake brass just aren't buying it; they want wins, and they want them bad. Trailing three games to two in a series that has spanned over three years, West Lake hopes that this change to the starting lineup will pay immediate dividends.

Editors Note: This trade was aborted after Pearspn failed a Valley team physical.
